Oh, now it all makes sense. American flag burning, plentiful narcotics, and mass protests by disgruntled freedom haters. No wonder the democrats are upset we’re trying to wipe these people off the face of the Earth!

Who exactly is it that we’re trying to “wipe off the face of the earth?”…Hmmm….
What do you think about the proposition that our extended presence in their country/area has led to a larger portion of their population at best resenting us & at worse wanting to kill us? There has always been a modest amount of individuals throughout this world who dislike America, some w/ decent reasons (like, for example, us propping up some hard-line fascist dictator in their country to “stop the spread of communism in our hemisphere). However, you have to keep in mind that this doesn’t just come out of nowhere; it’s a combination of extremely complex social/economic/political factors.
I’m afraid I don’t have a perfect answer for how we can help these people live as they would like (which, especially in Iran, a LOT of them want to be free, listen to western music & watch western movies/tv) and at the same time take out all of those in their society who wish us harm. Of course, how are they going to do much harm when we’re over here & they’re over there… They could probably piece together one major attack every 10-12 yrs, & I think that’s being generous. The life lost to that may or may not rival the lives we lose right now due to the war (&, remember w/out all the modern medical advances we’ve made, our death toll would be a lot higher). I’m sorry, I’m not gonna live my life cowering about the possibility that 15 “Islamofascists” may cause some Americans harm again - that’s what terrorism is all about & I will not succumb to that garbage.
Sorry, got caught on a tangent. My point is, to truly help the people who want to be helped we must come up w/ a better solution than simply occupying their country & standing in the middle of their internal rivalries (which have been ongoing for centuries). Of course, we can’t just leave altogether now that their country is ravaged…Definitely not an easy problem…
